Thank you for your kind enquiry, FID has been formed as a non-profit making ORGANISATION, it is very well organised and able to reach all the places that count. To make his or her voice heard through your representatives at all levels, Colin Hanson (Secretary) and David Wood (PRO), requires everyone in the hobby to work in unison. We need your support in this! It needs the moral
backing of everyone who owns a metal detector and most of all it needs a way of contacting you directly with urgent news. By becoming a member of FID you can make a valuable contribution to
the future of the hobby.

FID has been organised primarily for the individual precluded from normal club membership, through distance, age or illness, employment or home ties. However membership of FID is open to all detectorists who support its aims.

Join F.I.D. and we will become your voice, and your ears on the hobby front, and you will be covered by public liability insurance for £5,000,000. FID is not connected in any way to the metal detecting industry of any other commercial interest. The executive is made up of six existing members all dedicated supporters of the hobby.

IMPORTANT:- This application must include two passport photo’s and a cheque or postal order for (UK) £8.00 (£5.00 Joining fee plus £3.00 Annual fee) (International) £15.00 Sterling (£5.00) Joining fee plus £10.00 Annual fee) made payable to FID (and 2x50p plus 2x16p postage stamps, due to inreased postal charges, UK only), otherwise it will not be processed.
If you allow your membership to lapse for some reason or other, when you renew your membership, you will be required to pay the joining fee plus your subscription for the year.

Any cheques returned through lack of funds causes inconvenience and expense to the Federation, the full charges plus a fee of £5.00 will be charged if cheque is dishonoured.
